Recipe book also used as a scrapbook and commonplace book probably from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Volume is comprised of veterinary recipes and advice on the care and treatment of horses, some copied from the works of George H. Dadd; culinary recipes; medical recipes, including a homeopathic tooth cordial; many recipes related to housekeeping, insect control, ventilating rooms and purifying the air; building construction and gardening. There are also entries on the census and on the advantages of commerce by water between Chicago and Montreal vs. Chicago and New York. Includes a large number of newspaper clippings tipped in, some in reference to real estate transactions in Montreal.
